Galvanized Sheets
Galvanized Steel Sheets
Galvanized Sheets are produced from rimming, capped, or semi-killed steel and are designed for bending and moderate forming applications. The continuous hot-dip zinc coating provides excellent corrosion protection while maintaining formability, allowing the sheets to be bent flat on themselves without cracking or coating flaking.
- A526 / A527
- Hot-Dip Galvanized
- G90 Coating (1.25 oz/ft)
- Excellent Formability
Overview
Our galvanized sheets are engineered for superior performance in demanding commercial and industrial applications. Produced from rimming, capped, or semi-killed steel, these sheets are specifically designed for projects requiring simple bending or moderate forming operations. The key advantage lies in their exceptional ductility, allowing them to be bent flat on themselves in any direction at room temperature without cracking or failure.
The protective zinc coating is applied using the continuous hot-dip process, ensuring a uniform, tight adhesion of prime spelter. This process creates a robust barrier against corrosion, meeting the 1.25 ounces per square foot coating class standard. The coating's integrity is proven through rigorous testing per ASTM A525, demonstrating excellent resistance to flaking during fabrication. These galvanized sheets consistently meet Commercial Quality requirements as defined by ASTM A526, providing reliable performance for a wide range of structural and non-structural applications.
For more demanding forming operations, our gauges 16 and lighter are available as Lock Forming Quality, conforming to the stricter standards of ASTM A527. This makes them ideal for applications where tighter tolerances and enhanced formability are critical. Whether you're working on HVAC components, agricultural equipment, or building panels, our galvanized steel sheets offer the perfect balance of strength, durability, and workability. The combination of consistent quality, reliable performance, and industry-standard compliance makes these sheets a smart choice for fabricators, manufacturers, and construction professionals seeking long-lasting corrosion protection.

Weldability
- Good weldability using MIG, TIG, or spot welding processes.
- For MIG welding, use ER70S-6 wire with 75% Argon/25% CO? gas mix.
- Thoroughly clean the weld area to remove zinc coating (grind back 1-2 inches).
- Work in well-ventilated areas due to zinc fumes (zinc oxide can cause metal fume fever).
- Use lower heat settings to minimize zinc vaporization and porosity.
- Post-weld, clean the area and apply zinc-rich paint to restore corrosion protection.
- For critical applications, consider welding before galvanizing when possible.
How to Measure & Specify
To specify Galvanized Sheets:
- Dimensions: Thickness ? Width ? Length (e.g., 16 ga ? 48" ? 96")
- Quality: Commercial (A526) or Lock Forming (A527)
- Coating: G90 (1.25 oz/ft standard)
- Finish: Regular, minimized, or extra-smooth spangle
- Surface: Oiled, dry, or chemically treated
- Quantity: Number of sheets or total square feet
- Tolerance: Standard mill or specify if precision needed
- Example: "16 ga ? 48" ? 96" Galvanized Sheet, ASTM A526, G90, minimized spangle, oiled"
Measurement Tip: Thickness includes both the base steel and zinc coating. For precise thickness measurements, use a coating gauge to differentiate between steel thickness and zinc coating thickness.
