Weldability

• Good weldability using MIG, TIG, or spot welding processes.
• For MIG welding, use ER70S-6 wire with 75% Argon/25% CO? gas mix.
• Thoroughly clean the weld area to remove zinc coating (grind back 1-2 inches).
• Work in well-ventilated areas due to zinc fumes (zinc oxide can cause metal fume fever).
• Use lower heat settings to minimize zinc vaporization and porosity.
• Post-weld, clean the area and apply zinc-rich paint to restore corrosion protection.
• For critical applications, consider welding before galvanizing when possible.
