Type 304 stainless steel is the most common austenitic grade, known as 18-8 for its 18% chromium and 8% nickel composition. This sheet product conforms to ASTM A240, providing exceptional resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosion. It is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, cannot be hardened by heat treatment, and offers excellent formability and weldability for complex fabrications.
As a medium-thickness 14 gauge sheet, this material provides a balance of rigidity and formability. It is ideal for applications such as architectural cladding, restaurant and food processing equipment, vehicle body panels, and durable machine guards where both strength and a clean appearance are required.
