Type 304 is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel, containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel for exceptional resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosives. Manufactured to ASTM A276 standards, this annealed bar is non-magnetic and cannot be hardened by heat treatment. It provides excellent toughness, ductility, and can be readily welded using all standard fusion methods, making it a reliable material for fabrication.
The medium 1-1/4" diameter provides a solid, machinable stock for a range of components. It is frequently used for manufacturing shafts, axles, bushings, spacers, and support columns where a balance of strength, machinability, and corrosion resistance is required for performance and durability.
