Type 304 stainless steel is the most widely used austenitic chromium-nickel alloy, often called "18-8" for its composition. This provides excellent resistance to a wide range of atmospheric and chemical corrosives. In its annealed condition, it is non-magnetic, has exceptional ductility, and conforms to ASTM A276, making it ideal for welded assemblies and complex forming operations.
