Type 304 is the most widely used austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel, known as "18-8" for its 18% chromium and 8% nickel content. This composition provides excellent resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosives. In its annealed condition, it is non-magnetic, highly ductile, and conforms to ASTM A276. Its combination of weldability, strength, and formability makes it a reliable material for fabrication.
As a medium-sized 1" wide bar, this product offers a great balance of strength for structural bracing and machine ways without being overly heavy or difficult to work.
