- 1018 Cold Rolled Steel Construction
- ASTM A108 Certified
- 63,800 PSI Tensile Strength
- Excellent Machinability
1018 is a low-carbon steel manufactured through a cold drawing process, which increases its strength and hardness while providing tight dimensional tolerances and a scale-free surface. It conforms to ASTM A108 and offers an excellent balance of toughness, ductility, and strength. With a machinability rating of 70%, it is easily drilled, turned, and milled. This grade is also readily weldable using common techniques.
As a large-format flat bar, this 4" wide stock is ideal for applications requiring a broad, stable surface. It serves as an excellent foundation for machine base plates, heavy structural supports, gussets, and components for dies and fixtures where dimensional stability and a smooth finish are critical for performance.
