- 1018 Steel Construction
- ASTM A108 Certified
- 63,800 PSI Tensile Strength
- Excellent Machinability
1018 Cold Rolled Flat Bar is a low-carbon steel produced through a cold drawing process, which increases its strength and hardness while refining the surface finish and dimensional tolerances. This grade is known for its excellent weldability using common methods and a machinability rating of 70% of 1212 steel. It is also an ideal candidate for case-hardening (carburizing) to create a wear-resistant surface.
As a small profile bar, this 1/8" x 1/4" size is perfectly suited for applications requiring precision without excessive weight. It is commonly used for lightweight brackets, mounting straps, shims for alignment, keyways, and small frame stock in machinery and fixtures where accuracy is critical.
