- 1018 Steel Construction
- ASTM A108 Certified
- 63,800 PSI Tensile Strength
- Excellent Machinability
1018 Cold Rolled Steel is a low-carbon grade manufactured through a cold drawing process, which increases its strength and hardness while creating a smooth, scale-free finish. This material complies with ASTM A108 standards and offers an excellent balance of strength, ductility, and toughness. Its composition makes it easily machined and welded, and it is a prime candidate for case-hardening (carburizing) to create a wear-resistant surface.
As a large-format flat bar, this 4" wide stock is exceptionally suited for applications requiring flatness and stability. It is commonly used for heavy equipment mounting, structural base plates for columns and machinery, wear plates in industrial settings, and robust components for tooling and dies where dimensional accuracy is critical.
