The T6 temper indicates it has been solution heat-treated and artificially aged to achieve its optimal strength. Conforming to ASTM B211, it provides an excellent combination of 45,000 PSI tensile strength, good formability, and superior corrosion resistance, making it one of the most widely used aluminum alloys.
